So Is It Really a Book?
September 22nd, 2007In the last week I have sent out 150 pre-publication copies of my first manuscript—nicely bound and looking just so. The cover says Saving the President, a novel by Ken Armstrong. Looks like a book, feels like a book, even has a cool barcode on the back like a book. But I don’t really know whether or not it’s a book.
That’s what all these reviewers and readers will decide. If they come back yawning, I’ll know it isn’t. For that matter, if the professional reviewers decide not to review Saving the President, I’ll know it isn’t. To even get a book reviewed is rare. I’d estimate from my research that less than 1 of 100 books submitted to reviewers get selected. Ouch.
A few friends and family members (Heather, Stan, Jessica, Dad, Mom) are convinced that it’s a book…but we have a long way to go before I have sufficient “independent” evaluations.
This is my first blog entry, and I’ll try to keep you all updated on the progress of the publishing journey. If you didn’t get here via my website, be sure to go visit www.KenArmstrongBooks.com in order to learn more about Saving the President. And away we go!
